This is arguably the greatest sports documentary of all time. Even at almost three hours, the film absolutely flies by as director Steve James wraps us up in the story of two young men who hope to become professional NBA players, and how damn hard that dreams is to achieve. Hoop Dreams drives into the ground zero of these lives and the hardship and complications that go far beyond the neat narratives that sport stories traditionally sell us. You will never look at a single player in any sport the same way again after Hoop Dreams. – Matt Goldberg
